If you want to know how to sell on Craigslist this is the right video to view. We will show you how to post your items to sell and how to do it so you will have the best chance of getting them noticed and selling them for the most profit.
And you don't want to miss our tips at the end of this video for Craigslist safety and how you can avoid scams on Craigslist.
You can sell just about anything on including how to sell your car on craigslist, how to sell your boat, how to sell your musical instrument and how to sell your furniture on Craigslist.
Today we are going to sell our couch on craigslist and show you how to list it correctly for the most impact.
Let's get started.
First, you can log into your Craigslist account. Now, you need a craigslist account and that's easy to get, but we will have to show you how to sign up for Craigslist on another video.
So, make sure you have a very good idea what you want to say about your item before you get started. In fact, what I do is write my ad ahead of time so I can check my work, spell check it and tweak it so I'm not saying something dumb or make an embarrassing typo. Then you can just copy and paste in instead writing your Craigslist ad on the fly.
So we are logged in and we want to go to New Posting In, wherever your city is, and click Go and you will see this page that asks you what kind of posting it is. Pick for sale by owner and it automatically goes to the next screen where you scroll down and pick furniture and sometimes, depending where you are it asks you to specify what part of the city you are in, this craigslist posting will be in Atlanta so we will pick, City of Atlanta, and then it goes to your craigslist ad form.
Where it says by phone or by the text I don't choose any of them and I will tell you why in a little bit, then put in your contact name. I just use my first name.
Then put in your posting title and this is really the most important part of your ad believe it or not. You may have a great description of your item, but if you don't have a good post title, people may not be able to find your item. And some people look for an item by searching for very specific things, so be precise in your craigslist posting title.
Then describe your item, which is a couch in our case and fill in the blanks.
And then upload your photos and make sure they are good, in focus and big enough to see the item in and cropped to the item. Take good, quality pictures.
Upload them by picking them out on your computer and then you are done. Your ad will be live.
Now back to the reason I don't put in my phone number or address. Now obviously if you are having a garage sale, you want to let people know where you live, so put in the address under those circumstances, but in other cases, I want to be able to talk to the person first.
And you may want people to call you, but I'd rather deal with people through email because I don't want to be interrupted by my phone all day long. That is your personal preference though.
Also, one way to avoid scams on Craigslist is to never deal with money sent through Western Union. Also, never give out your bank account numbers to anyone who says they want to make a direct deposit. They can do that and then their checks or deposit can bounce.
Anyway, we hope this has helped you learn how to sell on Craigslist and as always, thanks for watching our How To Videos and Tutorials and if you haven't done so already, please click the Subscribe button below this video to be notified when we upload new videos.
